Convince me to buy CoD

Post by Atrum on Tue Nov 03, 2015 4:51 pm

Alright, here's the thread to convince Atrum to pick up CoD.
I find myself randomly having quite a bit more gaming time.

I'm all over playing Halo, and will continue to play it (along with fallout 4) - but it strikes me that alternating between CoD and H5 wouldn't be horrible.

What about this game is epic enough to warrant prying myself away from Halo?
Anything cool added or borrowed from the previous editions?

PS:: I haven't kept up with any media at all on the game. Historically I've liked the non-blops/treyarch CoDs more, but have never really 'hated' a CoD release.

In all seriousness, COD is the pick up and play game. It's easy to just jump in and do well, unlike some games were you are going to get destroyed if you do not play on a regular basis. Plus, it seems to always be a good time on the late night weekends with it easy to get a full group of clanmates. I was a bit burned out on COD until the beta. The beta was great, and really sold me on this one. And did I mention that throwing axes are back?

I heard first hand, the joy in your voice as you played in our AW tournament. Lets face it, not everyone loved AW with the jumper boosting stuff. I like the Black ops games more than the sledgehammer, but i won't lie i love all COD games.

Like Miller said, i tried myself to get in to halo, and guess what i got powned every match, match after match. I don't know the plasma combo thing, or the grenade tactics, the sniping is for the birds, its hard to just grab and go.

**Please read the remainder of the text in your best Steve Jobs voice**
Here at COD we offer more user friendly environments. We allow easy to use controls and options for those who don't play often enough. Its a grab a gun and go kinda game. Whether you're a sniper, run and gun, or in between there are tons of guns that let you be all these and more.

Lets talk about lobbies. If you decided you want to game for just 30 min or so after lunch before going back to work, you can do that with the new and improved call of duty.
Got all the time in the world you say? Want to sit down and have a 4-9 hour marathon, not problem. With a variety of game modes we help make this possible. As far as the clan is concerned, there will most likely always be someone from s7 playing this game when you get on. We have such a huge group of dedicated guys that you'll never have to game alone again.

I'll reiterate the joy i saw everyone having in the retirement party for AW. As the GC i do plan on having more intra clan tournaments. This allows more options for prizes and good wholesome fun with fellow members.

Zombies, there is no other game like COD Zombies. Yes you can play some zombie games, but none like this, wonder weapons, upgrade machines, pew pew sounds to the max, hoarding, holding up in a small tunnel that makes head shots unavoidable, and playing to reach the highest you can achieve and become leader of the leaderboard.

If not for yourself, do it for your brothers, do it for your clan, nay, do it for your country. Just kidding, mostly do it for yourself.

:: End Steve Jobs impersonation ::

Lastly i leave you with this. Imagine running a round in a match. With the most amazing weapon ever. The deadliest weapon since the dawn of the apes. One hit and they are dead wonder weapon, this weapon is the majestic and amazing Throwing Axe. The joy you'll receive from hearing saying, oh d@mn he got me!!, or how did he make that throw?!! are you serious!??! is worth every penny knowing you just throwing axed someone in the face.

I plan to skip it this year. I'll check back here to see if there's some convincing points though.

Its 60 bucks, even if you only play one weekend or one innerclan tourney with your friends its worth it to me, a night out with your friends and great time well worth it. I'll probably buy halo for the same reason, I rented halo, beat the campaign, played some mp which was fun and if the clan still plays it in a few weeks I probably buy it

I'm still on the fence myself. I'm leaning towards sitting it out. The beta wasn't horrible, but it didn't make me wet the bed with excitement either. Some games like Madden are better when you skip a year. It's all basically the same thing over and over anyway, so you're not REALLY missing anything.

BTW, this post wasn't to sway Atrum, but more or less to say I'm in the same boat.
Basically I'll be reading back to see if I too can be convinced to buy it.

The campaign is a lot different considering it's co-op (up to 4 players online).

Zombies with 2 different storylines.

Arena mode (similar to Halo). eSports playlist.

As for multiplayer, nothing really new.

If I get it it will probably only be to play zombies with Magus and I'll Xmas noob it. I haven't played the last 2-3 CODs and I didn't spontaneously combust, so I should be ok.

The coop campaign is an interesting addition, and the new class system is cool too.  There are 4 or so, I think, from my limited experience playing the beta.  Kind of a Destiny feel to that where you work up an ultimate ability; the one I used in the beta was a deadly compound bow.  Besides that it is, like miller said, the mindless easy pickup game that everyone plays, so for me it would have to be a strong argument for "why not" to convince me to not buy it.  As Droopy pointed out, $60 really isn't much for the fun I will have from this one.  Didn't read Coop's wall of text - sorry Coop. We will be competitive in this game which is something I can't guarantee for any other game.

Klown convinced me in the longest day thread with this link:
http://kotaku.com/black-ops-iiis-solo-experience-is-surprisingly-deep-1740734522

I know what MP will be (CoD is CoD), but the single player/co-op stuff actually looks fun.

Oh, do tell. Are the classes just loadouts or are there skills associated?

There are 10 classes, or characters. Each has a special ability and special weapon (you choose which to use). Kind of like the different classes in Destiny, but there are 10 and only 2 abilities, not a full skill tree. There is even a fist of havoc/gravity spikes, a golden gun, void bow, chain lightening, blade dancer, and other similarities.
