People also need to keep in mind this game is being developed with an estimated 3-5 million dollar budget so don't expect Forza or Gran Turismo.  They have concentrated on top tier race cars and the "most realistic physics model ever seen on a console".  It was made from the ground up to be different from the rest.

It's not going to be a "huge" game, but at the very least I hope they sell enough to keep the series going and growing into the future.  If nothing else it will push Forza to quit being so comfortable with what they push out every year (including Horizon).

Launch trailer.  At this point it's basically just sit and wait to see how the game turns out.  Expecting some issues at the start, but if they can pull off what they are trying to get done, this will be an awesome game.

Looks like there's quite a few pissed off PS4 folks in North America due to the fact that Sony has for some reason decided to not put up the Project CARS digital edition in the store for whatever reason.  People are trying to figure out how to order from the UK store so they can get the limited edition cars for pre-ordering.

Reviews are starting to roll in.  Looks like we've got a winner...

Game Informer: 8.5/10 http://www.gameinformer.com/games/pr...er-review.aspx
In a genre where it can be hard to differentiate yourself, Project Cars makes its mark. It's not as strong as it could be in all areas, but Slightly Mad Studios' attention to detail and racing chops make the game a contender.
Gamesradar: 3.5/5 http://www.gamesradar.com/project-cars-review/
At times, it looks as good as real life
Superb weather system
Open-ended structure means no unlocking
Immensely satisfying when you finally win
Inconsistent quality across events
The AI needs a refresher course in how to drive safely
Videogamer VIDEO review: http://www.videogamer.com/ps4/projec...rs_review.html

Gamereactor UK: 9/10 http://www.gamereactor.eu/reviews/308434/Project+CARS/
The bottom line is that Project CARS manages to refresh the racing simulation genre, and in doing so sets a new level that future entries into this genre need to, at the very least, match in order to compete with the competition. And even then, we suspect that Slightly Mad Studios will have refined this title further in the form of future DLC and patches.
Hardcoregamer: 4/5 http://www.hardcoregamer.com/2015/05...t-cars/147245/
Simply put, Project CARS is simulation racing done right. The subtlety of the nearly countless gameplay tweaks, combined with a robust open Career mode, makes for an experience that racing fans should fall in love with. Of course, none of this would be possible without driving that feels tight, workable and exciting, which is certainly present in droves. Oh, and it’s hard not to notice that this is quite possibly the best looking racing game of all time. Outside of its cluttered user interface, everything about Project CARS seems to be thoughtfully designed, which should be a testament to having the power of the community assisting development. Polyphony Digital and Turn 10 Studios should be on the look-out, a new challenger has approached.
PC Gamer: 83/100 http://www.pcgamer.com/project-cars-2/
Beautiful, bold and varied. Slightly Mad are uncompromising in their simulation
PSU: 8/10 http://www.psu.com/review/26686/Project-CARS-PS4-Review
In summary, Project CARS isn’t quite the complete package as it stands right now, with our main gripe being the performance of enemy A.I. and some of the glitches we’ve encountered. Nevertheless, it does feel like it’s built for a long-term audience, a community-focused racer that will no doubt keep on growing and improving. And Project CARS actually turns out to be more accessible than you might think in terms of the way the cars handle on the easiest setting, despite the fact that it's obviously designed for the core simulation fans. With so much on offer from the outset, the sandbox approach is refreshing, while its scenery and track design never fails to impress. The cars are a lot of fun to drive, too, and the challenge of tuning your car and nailing a track to perfection is as addictive as racing games get. While Project CARS doesn’t quite roar past the championship finish line in a blaze of glory, it feels ready to burst out of the qualifiers onto the main scene.
Gamewatcher: 8/10 http://www.gamewatcher.com/reviews/p...s-review/12226
Bearing in mind that it was impossible for me to assess the quality and stability of the online components of the game, but it was still clear to see that Project CARS is a bloody good racing simulator. Those of you looking for more of an arcade racer may be better off looking elsewhere, especially at launch price, but if you’re looking for a beautiful and in depth racing experience then shelling out £40 on Project CARS will be money well spent.
Digitallydownloaded: 4.5/5 http://www.digitallydownloaded.net/2...station-4.html
Project CARS is a truly fine racing game, and for PlayStation 4 owners this will be the first next-generation racing game of worth for serious revheads to sink their teeth into. Racing beginners, or people who are used to racing games where powerslides are enough to get around corners may feel very frustrated with this one at first, but I can't think of a racing game that is more worth taking the time to get to know, and master, than this one.

I have been wondering about the PS store stuff myself. Not too worried about it as I am on the fence still but I did find it strange the listing was not up.

Looks like it was because of a Sony requirement.  And whenever it does hit the PSN store it will come with the LE cars as well, it's not just a pre-order thing, which is cool.

I reached out to Slightly Mad Studios and got this reply:

Hey [iceman741],

Thanks for your email.

It doesn’t look like we’re going to have a preorder on the US Playstation Store, sadly. It turns out that for preorders to be accepted on the Store, we need to apply for a spot eight weeks in advance. Because of the moving release date, we were unable to do that. Once the game had gone Gold, we felt it more important to get the game out there rather than delay just to lock in preorders.

Unfortunately, we can’t secure a slot now. Lord knows, I’ve tried. I know it’s a pain in the neck, and we are doing what we can – but our powers are limited! Really appreciate the support, though.

Once the game is available via the US Playstation Store, bear in mind that our digital versions come with both the Limited Edition and Modified Car Packs – so you’re not losing out on any preorder content.

Thanks, and hope to see you on the track, Pete.

TL;DR - No preorder, but we still get the car packs. Sigh of relief.

I'll definitely be giving my own personal review for you guys here that are still interested enough to keep an eye out.

So far the game is getting pretty great reviews (especially for a first installment of a game) all over the place and I can't wait until the 12th to get it running and get on the track!

Maybe I'll hold off on this one and ask for it for Father's Day, then I can preorder ESO and get it on release.

Looks like so far the game is awesome if you aren't one of the people that are dealing with the laundry list of issues on the Xbox One.  I haven't looked at the PS4 side of it but there are quite a few issues on the XB1 side, but nothing that is effecting everybody.  A lot of isolated bugs that some get, some don't.  Hoping we can be lucky enough to not have to face those issues, so we'll see.  Still can't wait until Tuesday to get it fired up and see how it goes.

I hate to say this but if you haven't bought it (pre-ordered) it might be a good idea to hold off on it.  There are some pretty big issues with the XB1 version that may or may not be gamebreaking depending on if you are one of the lucky ones or not.  They are currently working hard on a patch to fix the biggest issues, mainly the XB1 controller issue that causes the steering to lock in place when turning one way or the other using the stick.  There seems to be a temporary workaround that works for some people, but not everybody.  Also an issue with the stick not using it's full motion of movement before locking.

I've seen posts on the official forums stating that the best way to drive the cars right now for some people is by using the D-Pad...unless you have a wheel.  The devs have reproduced the problem and are fixing it, but nobody knows yet when it will be patched.

"We are working hard to address issues raised on the initial release. Stay tuned … I can tell you that Xbox One will gain at least 4-7% performance in a patch shortly and address some of the controller issues. we will look for improvements."

The head of the studio just posted regarding when the patch would come out...

There is unfortunately a longer accreditation and QA process for these things than we'd prefer chaps but we've built the fixes into a new build already and are pressuring everyone as much as possibly to get it out as soon as possible.

Starting to sound like Halo all over again.
How could you not have used an XB1 controller to test your game prior to release?

They are saying that for some reason there was a difference when testing on dev units compared to retail ones thus causing some of the issues.  I don't know whether to believe that or not, but they are working on it at least.  I don't know about it being as bad as Halo as at least these guys are communicating with everybody.  That's a good first step.

Is this issue specific to the XB1 or is the same problem appearing on PS4?

Yeah, controller patch is different than trying to jam 15 years of games together into a single online network code Laughing Rolling Eyes

That particular bug, as far as I'm aware, is specific to the Xbox One.

To anybody that might be experiencing issues using the controller, here is an excellent write up on how to get it setup (until they have a patch out).
