2015 MLB Season

Post by S7 K1ll3rKlown on Thu Dec 18, 2014 12:49 pm

I know not that many here like baseball like I do. Infact, not many people in the world love baseball the way I do.
Maybe Ty Cobb or Teddy "Ballgame" Williams? Lou Gehrig or Stan Musial? Perhaps the 8th greatest hitter Babe Ruth? But none of them are alive now-- so that leaves me and Pete Rose. But, he's banned from the game. Hmmm...yeah, it's just me Rolling Eyes Embarassed .

Anyway, if you do follow the game a little, I thought I'd provide the Hot Stove link. The winter meetings in San Diego have been crazy. I get home and watch every night in amazement as players are traded. All I can say is wow when reading this list.

BTW, The RedSox are looking good OC. Lots of Big, Big moves!!

Enjoy!

Yeah Klown I don't think anyone follows/likes the game as much as you. The Sox are looking good but I'm a worried about having all #3 rotation guys and no real ace. I like the other moves and the General direction they are headed but I think they need an ace to contend this year. As well as some bullpen help. Hey anything is better than the bottom last year.

You and the Marlins are the only teams I've seen be great, then bad, then great, then bad and now headed back to great.

CRAZY!

BTW, incase you missed it. Matt Kemp’s physical exam revealed arthritis in both hips.
Is he headed BACK to the Dodgers from the Padres? what do you do when headed back to a team that didn't want to cover the $107 million remaining on your contract? Crazy stuff happening.

It dosent matter to much for him he gets paid either way. Lots of reports saying the trade may still happen anyway.

Glad to see the Cubs picked up a skipper and a solid starter.   They've got a bunch of young talent too, so hopefully they'll make a strong push for the post season.

I expect big things from the Cubs. That could be a curse in itself, because whenever you "think" a club is going to do well-- they stink. It's always the clubs we overlook (A's and Royals) that surprise us each year. But on paper the Cubs are looking like a club on the rise for sure. I hope so...they need it. Haven't won since the Titanic sunk.

Jeez!

Made another post which made me think about baseball, and just decided to get an official link and leave it here for future reference (instead of counting it out in my head every few days). Sad I know... Embarassed

I'm liking the Cubs options and chances this year.   Do I agree with the 12-1 odds of WS win, probably not.  I wouldn't be surprised if they're like .600-.700 and possibly in the post season.

I'm just going to address the real elephant in the room.
The Freakin' San Diego Padres. They got really good really quick.

Yeah, but Keith Law of ESPN feels the Cubs have the best farm system in MLB and 2 of the top 4 prospects on the top 100 prospects list.  Does that mean anything but there's TONS of potential, no.  However, I'm hoping some of that is realized in the next year or so and they start winning games.

I believe in the farm system and wonder why my Yankees don't do a better job at bringing up good players. But the "new" MLB seems to be about winning it all now and leaving nothing to chance. That means the best talent available for the dollar on the field day one:

Justin Upton
Will Venable
Carlos Quentin
Wil Myers
Cameron Maybin
Matt Kemp
Yangervis Solarte
Will Middlebrooks
Yonder Alonso
Ian Kennedy
Kevin Quackenbush

And on and on...this roster is going to blow through the competition of the NL West

To many Wills. Will Middlebrooks still has good potential but I'm not confident he will last in that lineup.

Hopefully the Cubs can use all the young potential to manufacture runs and wins like Beane and the A's did.

And since it's his magazine and he's friends with like all athletes he's getting the scoop before the Boston hometown paper or the bigger papers.

12th for overall and 16th for pitching.  I keep feeling the Cubbies have a lot of potential.

Re: 2015 MLB Season

So with one game in for my team I am happy with the look and the way they are playing. I am worried about the long term pitching staff as I know Clay Buckholtz has good stuff but usually doesn't last a season with out injury. I love having Pedroia back in full healthy form. I really like the addition of some bats to the line up as it should be a big help. Hitting was horrendous last season. I'm liking the development of Mookie Betts and Xander Bogarts. The big concern is loosing the starting catcher in Vasquez. Now I hope they make a trade to bolster that spot. Good start and I am excited for tonight to see Porcello start.

I'll just say this, in the one game we've played (off last night, on tonight) my only bright spot beside Brett Gardner has been A-Rod Shocked

Go figure the irony of that.

Cubs using all their potential to come out of the gate like usual, sub-.500.  Still early so we'll have to see how they're doing after the first month.
