Farming public events and the strike rotations works wonders.  Picked up 13 shards from them between actual shards and stuff I broke down.

@Mav - you won't be disappointed with the game.  You and I had a blast playing Gears games and you'll like this just as much.

I just can't do the solo farming, and there is no reason for me to get to 30- for what? A helmet? I have put a lot of time in, and just need a break. I will be back with the new DLC and raids, I just don't have any drive to continue to do the same thing over and over for little progress. Funny thing is, I do that with Diablo and have no problem, so it is surely just temporary burnout right now.

The PvP would be so much better if you could at least talk to some of your team. The silent mic does kill it in the long run, plus there isn't as much variety as in COD or most other multiplayer games. I still like it, and have been playing it a lot lately.

Upcoming update is supposed to be fixing the fire team chat issue. That might help when soloing.

The biggest issue with Destiny is the randomness.  Guys can hit 30 in 2 raids and some guys still can't hit 30 after doing multiple raids per week since the raid came out.  I just FINALLY got the gloves tonight and once I level them I'll be at 30, but I must say it's been quite frustrating.  Of course now that I'll be 30 there only one thing to accomplish, and that's beating the raid on hard and trying to get that helmet and/or the Vex Mythoclast.  Other than that it's wait until DLC comes.

But with that said, I still play way too much, lol.  Have had plenty of weapons to level up and now I need to level up my gloves and exotic helm I've been holding on to just in case I got the gloves.
