Update on Forza 3

Post by brdrlndsmstr87 on Sun Nov 25, 2012 5:20 pm

Just took level 50 in Forza 3 60 plus vehicles now looking to possibly assume command. I know I am still under probationary status but I will say I am anxious to show the clan my prospects as a gamer in racing genres. Also just hit a K/D of 1.27 in Black ops 2... If any challenges for Forza 3 let me know I will be finishing the career up tonight hopefully.

No mistype Forza 4 lost my respect from what I played of it. Not looking forward to the Horizons either tried the demo and seeing too much mimic of NFS. Started focus on Forza 3

It's cool but I don't know if any one plays forza 3 any more. We are very active on forza4 so you may want to reconsider.

well I have taken into consideration just ordered Forza 4 essentials edition from ebay it will be here by the end of the week so once i put in some time I will get active with the clan on that one but I really think that a clan event on NFS should come about as well

Forza 4 is an upgrade in every way on Forza 3, as it's a true Motorsport series successor. Forza Horizons has no clan support as it was very arcady (a la NFS)
Definitely pick Forza 4 up, we have a big group on all the time. If you like 3, 4 is where you should be.

I have played 4 before and well some of the aspects I saw in 3 that kept me going I didnt see in 4. But as a tank mechanic/ tuner I look for the building aspects of NFS with the different styles like drift and drag as well as circut and time trials. And also in that same aspect the addition to the kinect features could have been left out. Just personal preference though.

Hmm, that's interesting. I probably spend 3/4 of my time tuning cars in preparation for our races. I don't even delve in to full drift or drag tunes as I don't do much of either.

well I try to keep up with newwer aspects of the two forms of racing as I am working towards becoming a part of Formula D in real life. So in turn setting up in game race aspects that hold those modes allow me to shall I say "stay on my toes". While Forza is more for the "legal" racing so to say with circuts and road courses.

Ahh interesting. We'd definitely like to have another racer out there!
So far this season we've had 8-12 guys show up. It would a blast to see the full 16 sometime.

Ah, fresh meat.

Welcome BorderLandsMaster. As others have pointed out, FM4 is what's on the table for now. We'd welcome another challenger to our ranks. I'm on with FM4 quite a bit and would love to see what ya got once you receive your copy.

And welcome to S7.

Indeed. It would be good to see another racer on race day. We have an official Tourney every two weeks. You have two weeks to make a car, tune it and get ready to race. Each Tourney is 7 races and points are earned based on where you finish in each race. Most points at the end of the night wins. It's a lot of fun a good competition.

Welcome to S7. Hope to see you on the track.

P.S. F4 really is much better than F3. Give it some time and you will see. And this is coming from someone who only races simulation racers. F3 was great. F4 is better.

I appreciate the input Interceptor. But simulation race games are decent but I am more of the NFS series fanatic. The tuning and modification sorts for that area of game play is realistic to the mechanics I do everyday. Tune for drift. Though Forza has a lot of strong capabilities main reason I play it easy achievements. lol

Just so I'm clear, you're of the impression that NFS tuning mechanics are more true to life than Forza?

true to drifting and underground mechanics not to the circuit side of it. See Forza is based on the sole aspect of circuit and road racing. Yes it has the tuning options but those are based on the aspect of your sponsored and legal racing in today's sports. NFS is based on the open ended possibilities of drifting sprint circuit time trials drag and downhill drift. It is the aspect of the underground racing scene and the Formula D aspect of the racing scene that has brought me into it to begin with. Throwing the car at a wall sideways at 100+ now that is a series of self control mechanics and fine tuning in order to handle the lateral G's and body roll, the fact of what is needed to maintain control of your machine while throwing the back end out at high speeds to me seems a bit more challenging than tuning for a road course.

Yeah, there is a whole drifting community on Forza 4. Including a dedicated race type where points are awarded for drifting. Highest overall drift score wins the race (not fastest time).

I do a little drifting for fun but circuit racing is what we concentrate on for Tourneys.

Another drift video. That one is a bit ridiculous though.

Forza 4 has the most realistic grip/tyre modelling outside of hardcore PC sims - plus the Codie's F1 games.

I do enjoy some FM4. Its one of the few games that have both LSD accel/decel characteristics that are not only adjustable but are impacted by the amount of body roll you allow/limit with spring rates and swaybar stiffness.

oo oo, and don't for get about using brake balance settings to adjust chasis attitude under braking. You can create a wonderful amount of off power trail braking without putting the back tires in the grass. Or you could put the stops on like Interseptor by actually feathering the gas while braking to keep the engine near the torque curve, thus prepping for exit speeds.

Any game where you can actually feel the slip angle of lateral G's change based on tire pressure, temperature and/or sidewall height has definately got my attention.

Me thinks I'm out of place in this thread cuz this stuff be too much for me. I'm just glad that there's another interested racer... who sounds like I won't be able to compete with.
