Yeah, you'd be pretty hard pressed to find a decent or semi-decent anime I haven't seen. I usually don't read manga except for ones like Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece where I'm too impatient to wait on the anime to catch up.
That and Air Gear, because the anime was cancelled right when it got amazing.

Medaka Box, Air Gear, Nisio Isin's light novels, X Blade, Claymore, Soul Eater, Gantz, Kuroshitsuji, Fairy Tail, One Piece, Bleach, Naruto, Deadman Wonderland, Ubel Blatt.

I guess that's all the current ones.

All the anime fans, yet it seems like I'm the only one that prefers the Japanese voices. Sad

Whaaaat? I never watched dubbed if it can be avoided. Only few exceptions are ones like Ghost in the Shell, Ah! My Goddess, Cowboy Bepop, and a couple others with real quality english voice actors.
Oh, and DBZ should never be seen in Japanese.

I prefer English dub as well but I have started to get into the Japanese versions lately. I have been watching a ton of anime lately and some of it is only available with subtitles. It used to bother me but I am starting to get used to it, plus the Japanese voices are much better in most cases.

Finished up "Enclave" it was a great read. The ending wasn't the best with a cliffhanger kind of feel making you want to know, what happened, what will they do next, and where will each characters relationships go.

Me and my brother shared the books and finished them in about a week. Goes fast because it's so simple you can read three sentences and be distracted without losing your place.

I would be surprised to get them done in a week but I hope to have the first book done by next week. His writing style reminds me of the Hunger games which allowed for an easy read but gave you the ability to imagine everything going on in great detail.

The Percy Jackson series is awesome. Super fun to read. The Last Olympian was pretty great. I bought my wife the first two books of the next Camp Half Blood series, The Heroes of Olympus. They're both over 500 pages so quite a bit more reading than the PJ series. She's loving the first one so far.

They still have to do with PJ or is it a new main character?

Finally connected to my local online library, but the Percy Jackson series seems popular and it has a holding/checkout system like a real library so PC will have to wait, so instead I picked up " Game of Thorns ". I've only started the first chapter but the Prologue alone was very interesting.

I feels its personal imagination. Its the ability to create a world in your head giving you the power to make to look like whatever fully interests you. This is one reason why I'm so excited to see "The Hunger Games" in theaters because I want to have a different visual representation of the book and see how it varies between my imagination and the movie.

And that is why you most likely will not care much for the movie. I normally hate movies I see after reading the book. But if I see the movie first and like it, then read the book, it's like an expanded special edition and I normally enjoy both more.

The cast was hand picked by Suzanne Collins so I expect the overall feel to be in her control but the story line always has to be cut down for a reasonable movie length.

I completely disagree with that and strangely enough, agree with his Lordship of Panzershire. Furthermore, that way of thinking could cause you to miss some very, very good books.

If you read the book first, you get that brand new experience, the world that you create. Sure, the author can be as descriptive as hell, but there's a limit to how much of a scene they can set and what they can infer, then your imagination takes over. If you see the film/tv version first, you lose that.

Had I seen the Harry Potter films before reading the books, I doubt I would have bothered at all. For me, reading the book version of something is an investment. If I already know, pretty much, what is going to happen then the returns from my investment will be heavily diminished. You could argue that the statement works both ways. Either way you look at it, you're reading/watching spoilers. However, do you really want to spend 40+ hours reading a book you already know the ending to? At least if you've read the book first, the effort to understand and enjoy the film/tv version will be minimal AND the visual aspect will be entirely new to you.

I would also extend this to entire series of books. Unless the film/TV counter-part is exceptional, like Game of Thrones, then you're going to lose your own version of the world, characters, etc. For me, GoT is the only visual adaptation I have seen whilst still in progress of a series. Legend of the Seeker on the other hand, is watchable, but having read the books, I found the storyline disgustingly bastardized. Think of the amount of time your average fantasy book takes to read, think of the complexities and the various parallel story-lines. No matter how hard you try, it is d@mn near impossible to fit that into anything less than a relatively long TV series...and even then, it may not be able to achieve the same flow as the book.

Really, it all comes down to your own imagination. There is no competition between what 'it' creates and what a production company create and there never will be. Why? Because it's more than likely that in the tv version, there'll be a character that you don't quite find believable or a town the just doesn't have the atmosphere it should. Your imagination doesn't have this problem, it is ALWAYS right. Perfection every time.

I agree that you will loose your "vision" of the character and so forth (main reason I dislike the talking/whining Dead Space 2's Isaac over the Dead Space one's silent character) but that is why the movie never lives up to my expectations after I have read the book. So if I hear a movie is coming out, I do not rush out to read the book, even if I want to. Then again, when do I read any more- LOL.
